Thogoto Teachers College was found in 1949 at Kambui Mission in Kiambu by the Church of Scotland Mission (now P.C.E.A.).
The aim was to train primary school teachers initially who were primary school leavers.
The College now trains P1 grade teachers who are form 4 (K.C.S.E.) leavers.
The College stands on 75 acres piece of land most of which is taken up by buildings (halls and hostels, classes, library and playing fields).
The College is a public institution sponsored by the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA).

It is off the Dagoretti Corner-Kikuyu road linked to Gikambura road at Thogoto junction before the University of Nairobi, Kikuyu Campus

Requirements
- K.C.S.E. D+ (plus) or Division 3 and above
- K.C.S.E. D (plain) E.C.D.E. teachers with K.N.E.C. Proficiency Certificate.
ECDE Diploma
Minimum Requirements
- K.C.S.E. Mean Grade C plain or K.C.E. Division 1 or 2 and above
- P1 Certificate
- K.C.S.E. mean grade D+ (plus) or K.C.E. Division 3 and above and have a DICECE Certificate.
